Requiem for a Nation

Unfounded pride, the foundation for demise

Misguided blame, the herald of the end

Illusive greatness, the perpetual disguise

Empty people, the poisonous blend

An explosion that rocks a universe

Could not even wake the slumbering sheep

Honor and dignity in a glorious hearse

A whole nation in deepest sleep

A country full of hope and prayer

Yet demanding luxury without work

Complaining that others are unfair

After abusing their whole network

No justice yet plenty of blame

Always the fault of the other side

Refusing to bear responsibility or shame

A people mourned far and wide

Claiming to be victimized by all

But turning down any advice or aid

A country reduced to a deadly crawl

A nation set to finally fade

Waiting for the phoenix to rise again

With its ashes spread here and there

An empty shell without a brain

The mighty bird has flown elsewhere

A people thus itself entitled

Narrow minds pretending to be wise

Deserves to roam the world untitled

Their shame will be their greatest prize
